Privacy Policy

In short. This site collects only what you type into its forms, uses it only for the reasons below, and never sells it. There are no advertising trackers, no visitor analytics and no tracking cookies.

What is collected. The site has three forms. The waitlist and the journal sign-up each ask for your email address and, if you choose, your first name. The speaking inquiry asks for your contact details and details about your event. With any form, the site also records which page and form you used and, if you arrived through a tagged link (from a newsletter or social post, for example), that campaign tag and the name of the website that sent you. Joining the launch team happens on a sign-up page run by E.P. House, not on this site; see Third parties.

Launch team pages. If the author gives you a private launch team page on this site, your name, email address and place on the team are kept for that page, and your email address is added to the launch team’s email group. You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email, so there is no password; Google Firebase keeps a sign-in record with your email address. The site also notes when you last opened your page and any RSVP you give there. If you leave the team or are removed, your page closes at once.

Your journal. If you use the journal on this site, what you write and tick in it is kept so you can come back to it on any phone or computer. It is stored encrypted, and only you can read it, on the journal page after signing in with a link sent to your email; Google Firebase keeps a sign-in record with your email address. The author sees only totals of how the journal is used, such as how many people started it or wrote something on a given day, never anyone’s words and never one person’s activity. Delete my journal, at the end of the journal, erases everything you wrote at once.

Where it is kept. Form submissions are stored in a private Google Workspace account operated by the author, and launch team records in her Google Firebase project, both on Google’s servers. Emails from the site are sent through her Google Workspace account. Only the author and the people who help her run the book launch can see your information.

What it is used for. Confirming by email that your form arrived; telling you when the book is available and sending the updates described at signup; keeping your journal for you and sending its sign-in links; running launch team pages and emails to the team; and replying to speaking inquiries. Your information is never sold, rented or traded, and it is not used to build an advertising profile. If updates are ever sent through an email service, your address is shared with that service only so it can send them.

What stays in your browser. The site sets no tracking cookies. It keeps a few small notes in your own browser: during a visit, how you arrived (the campaign tag and referring site described above, sent only with a form); and on the launch team page and the journal, your sign-in, the email address a sign-in link was sent to, and a note that shows “My Launch Team” in the menu. They leave your device only to sign you in or to send a form, and clearing this site’s data in your browser removes them.

Analytics. The site does not count or track visitors. If visit counting is ever added, it will be cookie-free, it will not identify individual visitors, and this page will say so. Because the site does not track you, it treats every visit the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

Third parties. Google provides the site’s hosting (Firebase), its typefaces (Google Fonts), the sign-in for launch team pages and the journal (Firebase Authentication) and the account that receives your forms (Google Workspace). Like any web host, Google receives the technical details every browser sends, such as your IP address, in order to deliver pages; the site itself keeps no visitor logs. Purchase links lead to retailers such as Amazon, podcast links lead to the host’s own platform, and social links lead to Facebook and the other platforms named at the foot of each page; each has its own privacy policy. The launch team sign-up page is run by E.P. House on Kartra, and what you enter there is covered by E.P. House’s own policy.

Children. This site is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent information through a form, email the address at the end of this page and it will be deleted.

Keeping and removing your information. Your information is kept only as long as it is needed for the reasons above. To leave the waitlist, use the unsubscribe link in any update or reply to any email from this site. To see what is held about you, correct it, or have it deleted, email the address at the end of this page; it will be handled within 30 days, and deleted information is not archived for later.

Changes. If this policy changes, the date at the end of this page changes too, and any change to how your information is used will be described here.
